On The River Steelville Strongman Contest
Rodney Wood demonstrated his versatility in this meet. Rodney won the lightweight division. In Rodney's words:
500lb Tire Flip 80 Feet 3rd place I was slipping all over the place and really felt I was not in shape for this.

200lb Each Hand Farmer Walks 1st place I will not know times till Monday or Tuesday. This was probably my best even of the day.

16lb Toss for Height 1st place with a throw of 18 feet tried 20' 6" but got the throw out in away from me.

Truck Push 80 Feet 1st Place this look tough the truck was a dually 1 ton four door with a 400lb drive and 200lb raft in the back going up a slight incline. This was funny I was about third of the way through and my feet slipped out from under me I hit the ground bounced back up and completed the event. I am sure it looked pretty funny.

Medly 150lb rock in the river, up the bank, 50 feet, 200lb keg still up an incline 25 feet, 230lb keg still going up an incline 15 feet. 1st place. I really thought this was going to be a killer, but it went off without a hitch.

CONGRATULATIONS Rodney on a job well done!

Joe Humbyrd also showed his well rounded athletic abilities. In Joe's words:
Tire Flip- Third place. I'm not sure by how much I was beaten, but I think it was a second or so.

Farmer's walk- Third place. This was as brutal an exercise that I have ever done in my life! I had been practicing very heavy with this and it paid off. I went farther in the contest than I had in training without dropping it, about 70 feet, but that was ten feet short of the finish line. I picked it back up which was very tough and finished. Trust me, trying to run with 250lbs in each hand is a daunting task. This really hurt me the rest of the competition.

Weight for height. Third place. Starting to notice a pattern here? This was my best event, but since we were going in reverse order of how we finished in our previous events I kept having to go first. I ended up throwing the 16lbs bowling ball for a height of 20 feet. This was the highest throw of the day, until the second place finisher beat me by 6 inches. I think I could've thrown it for 22 feet which would've won, but you only get three attempts total, and I had to make each one count and not miss.

Truck push. Third place. This was very grueling as well, but I did okay here too. A lot of the competitors didn't even finish, some of the lighter guys and high school kids couldn't even get it started. I actually had a decent time going until my right shoe came off half way through the event, not completely, but my toes were in the heal of the shoe. I borrowed them from Rodney and they were 1 size too big which made a big difference.

Medley event. Third place. This was the one I was really dreading but it turned out to be the easiest one of the day. I didn't kill myself for time on this one because there was no point, but I finished it with a good time and was pleased.

Very impressive performance Joe!
