September 29

Saint Louis Strongest Man Contest
Rodney Wood took 3rd in the 200 pound class and 3rd overall in the Lightweights. In Rodney's words;
Here is how the day went

Tire Flip 600lb 50 Feet in 26.56, I always seem to start meets slow and today was no different, I am a better than this, but just got off the a slow start.

Farmers 210 100feet one turn 15.87 big time PR for me and if I had a better turn I would have been under 15 sec.

52lb KB for reps 60 sec got 24 reps serveal guys got 25 27 and 28 reps, if I knew this is what it was going to take I would have trained the event harder, LOL. This event had nothing to do with strength for this weight of KB, but was totally dependent on conditioning. Would prefer any other form of Overhead event as compared to this one.

500lb Yoke for 50' 9.03 the Yoke was much easier than ours and I had trained for a tough Yoke run with something heavy not a light Yoke for a sprint, LOL. Looking back I would have been doing my Yoke runs lighter at a much faster pace.

I was tied for 4th going into the last event and did not consider the Keg Carry Sled Drag as one of my stronger events. Sucked it up and had a great run

190lb keg 50' Sled Drag 530ish for 50' 23.72 this was are really good time and pulled me into 3rd in the 200 class and LW division so very proud of my finish.

Looking foward to the Oct. 13th meet which is more my style.

Praise God for a great day and bringing us all home safe and sound.

September 22

Dino Gym Strongman Meet Salina KS
Rodney Wood made a good showing at this competition. In his own words;
Great meet and great people

Competed as a LW Master, but the only one in my class so I had to compare my numbers with HW masters and open LW

Overhead Press Fat DB 110 good 175 Axle good 9" log 200 good 12" log 200 good best run for the Masters classes and LW Open Men

42lb Weight Throw for Height One Handed

Suprised myself with this one with a throw of 14' I had another height in me but it was at 14' myself and one HW Master were the only ones left in and we elected to go the the fingal fingers. Really pleased here as I out threw all the open class competitors.

Fingal Fingers 3 Fingers 250 to 350lbs got all three and again best run of the masters and open LWs, I really thought these were going to be a killer, but I had a pretty good run with only a bobble on the thrid finger.

Frame Carry 500 50 feet 10 sec. second to Darren one of the heavy weight masters Foot speed was just two slow.

Stones 200 through 310 at 48"

Got the first four stones pretty easy, had the fifth and it slipped off the edge of the platform right at the very top. I thried to reload it, but ran out of gas. They messed up my split but I am pretty sure I had the fastest run of the masters and LW Open.
