My 2004 lifting/fitness goals include:
- Increasing my best lifts to 600/400/600 (currently 505/335/525).
- Competing in at least two full meets (most likely APA Iron Barbarian in April and BS4 in September), recording my first official total, and setting PR's in each lift.
- Cutting weight to make 242's (currently a "pudgy" 260-ish)... which means *shudder* cardio.
Non-lifting goals include:
- Surviving my 30th b-day in September.
- Landing a full-time teaching or administrative position (this subbing thing is for the birds!)
- Meeting Ms. Right (this single thing is also for the birds...lol).
Looking forward to hearing everyone else's goals!
Dan

: With Jeff's post I realized that 2003 is almost
: over and that means it's time to think about
: personal goals for 2004! Someone once said
: that goals have much more power when written
: down, so why not share them all once again!
: Dan
I am just going to copy and paste last year's goals :)
Squat 400lbs
bench 300lbs
Deadlift 3x bodyweight
Preferably as a 148 but the bodyweight does not mean
as much to me as making the lifts.

I don't remember my goals specifically last year. But I do know I never got down to the 220's. This year I would like to achieve that goal. On top of that I would like to do these:
Squat 650
Bench 515
Deadlift 600
Total 1715
I will be competing in my first APF contest this coming year and I hope to keep up with the big boys at that one.

after this year i'd just like to train and compete a full year not interupted by illness or injury! i figure i missed about four months due to my hemmeroid and surgery issue, then another couple of months with a back strain issue. i guess i should be thanksful that i'm only a little ways in the hole at present.
SQ - 425
BP - 300, with shirt
DL - 475
i suspect it will be difficult to keep my BW at 181 so if i'm 198 i want it to be a fit 198.

I never got my 800 in 2003, but I did get the all time wr at 275's and 700+ in my third class. 2004 will bring me my 800 and 700+ in my a fourth class which has never been done.
Good luck to all of you with your wishes in 2004 and have happy and safe holidays!

I want break 1400 and do well at collegiate nationals. I would also love to considerably lower my bodyfat but still stay at 220.

My goal is to meet IPF Class I as a 165 while lifting raw. That's a 1257 total. I'd like to get it with a 3xBW squat and 3xBW DL leaving about 260 lbs I'd need to bench, which I believe I can exceed.

Yeah, you gotta be there or be a square Cheesehead (LOL, just kidding :) It would be good to see you again and the more support, the better! I really don't know where my schedule and training will take me, but if it goes as it is suppossed to (i.e. if my 5 classes next semester don't kill me), my goals will be a 155-160 BP and a 290-??? DL! I had my eyes on their World and Nat. BP record which had been there since 1996 (154.3), and I saw that a 97 lb. phenom from California came out of nowhere and smashed it with a 176.6! Incredible.

I didn't post any 2004 goals or plans at the end of 2003 because I wanted to wait for the results of this past weekend's meet.
My first meet after a 14 year layoff was January 25th, 2003 WNPF - 1200 total
April 2003 AAU - 1265 total
October 2003 AAU - 1250 total
January 2004 APA - 1250 total
Looking at the totals, I have made about 50-65 pounds of progress in the past year. At first glance it appears that I have stagnated over the last six months or so. Problems with getting three or even two good attempts in the squat have detracted from my total in the last two meets. Taking the bests of each lift over the course of the year - 485 squat, 340 bench, 470 deadlift and the total is 1295 or almost 100 pounds of progress.
Considering the bench and deadlift bests were achieved at the 1/24/04 meet, I am encouraged that I am on an upward trend. Plus, I have now begun to incorporate a bench shirt and a wider bench grip - middle fingers on rings, out from ring fingers on rings - conversion made in the 11/03 to 1/04 time period. I plan to continue to work grip out to maximum width - index fingers on rings over the next several months.
My long term goal remains to exceed my best ever total of 1440 from 1982.
For 2004 my goals are:
Exceed 1400 total
Squat 525+
Bench 375+
DL 500+
If possible go past 1440 in 2004.
I did a lot of nine-ten week cycles in 2003 - Coan Squat and Deadlift, Weil or Westside Bench.
My original plan was to hit the AAU State meet on March 28 but my son will have a basketball tournament that weekend. That would have been a seven week peaking cycle.
At this point I think I need a longer cycle, less meet focused so I am going to go back to the sixteen week Gaugler Wave routine. If a meet happens to come up in April or May, I'll compete without specifically peaking for it, particularly if it is a Push/Pull meet.
I will set my triple goals for 470 for squat and deadlift and 320 (raw) for bench.
Going to the Gaugler will also give me a second auxillary bench day which will be conducive to bench progress and tricep strengthening for shirt benching.
I will probably keep pretty much the same gear, base Crain
squat suit, HD Blast shirt and raw deadlift although I will probably upgrade
from my Redline wraps. I'd like my gains to be as much as possible in the
strength area and not so much from improved technology. I weight in at
268 for the most recent meet, I'd like to get into the 250's and if I could
get close enough to 250, even take a shot at the 242's. That's an ongoing
goal, but one that never seems to be achieved LOL.
