Goals

It has become a tradition at WTU to post our goals for the year, then I will put them up on the website as sort of an accountability tool to help us all reach them.

How many made last years goals.

What are your goals for 2005

Mine is to make the WPA Worlds at 148 pounds, and to total 1100 via 400-270-430...I will have to scramble for this but I believe it is doable.

By the end of '05 I would like to total Master
in the APA at 275 then move up to the 308's. I really would like to hit a 700 squat, 500+ bench and a 700 deadlift also.

At 165, I would like to first total over 1400 to qualify for APF Seniors. Then, I would like to compete at APF Seniors in June.

For my lifts, in a meet:

Squat: 300 kg or 661 lbs

Bench: 400 lbs

Deadlift: just some damn improvement!

Total: Hit the Master total for 165 in the APF of 1450

Here's mine for 2004.
---------------------
Squat: 520 lb
Bench: 325 lb
Deadlift: 525 lb
Total: >1350 lb

Stay in 181 lb class, get more sleep, add a little size to calves and forearms.
----------------------

I hit the squat, bench, total and bodyweight goals.
Was close on the DL goal, but was more concerned with getting total.

For 2005 I'll go for:

Squat: 545 lb
Bench: 340 lb
Deadlift: 550 lb
Total: 1420 lb

Stay in 181 lb class, have more fun and get more sleep.

Well crap...

For this year, I wanted to compete up to 3 times.
I only competed once.

I wanted to break 2,000
I did manage that

I wanted to total elite
I did manage that as well

I wanted to hit 2,100 and then take a shot at 2,200.
I fell short of that. I totaled 2,065 and got called on dpeth with a squat that would have given me 2,100. I never made it to another meet to compete.

So for next year:

1. Make a come back in March.
2. Break 2,100
3. Break 2,200
4. Get an offical 900+ squat in

These are just the personal goals. I have goals as a coach, writer and meet director but, this is already entirely too long a post.

Well for 2004 I was pleased I did my first meet in june totaling 1425. My second meet I got a 1660. For 2005 I would like to get a 600+ squat(my best is meet squat 600), bench 500+(best meet bench 475),pull 600 and total 1700 in my third full meet. I would also love to drop a wieght class but I doubt that is gonna happen!

My goals for this year were a little too lofty and I missed them all. I wanted a 575 squat, I did 560. Only 15lbs off, and a missed 2nd attempt cost me a chance to at least give 575 a ride. Not too bad. I somehow thought I could get a 425 bench, not even close to that one- what was I thinking! I did 385 in a meet, barely missed 400, and did 405 in the gym. Deads, I wanted 625. My best for the year was 570. I set the 625 goal after pulling a pretty easy 580 and barely missing 605 at a push pull, so I thought it was doable. I never did a push pull this year and fell short on a couple tries for PRs and only got 1 chance at 600 which I missed.

For 2005:
1: Stay healthy.
2: Do 3-4 meets, at least 2 full power.
3: Get that 600 squat. It's close.
4: Get the 425 bench. I'm working heavier all the time, I can get this in a year.
5: Get the 600 dead.
6: Total 1600.
7: Choose my attempts smarter at my meets, bad choices this year caused me to total well under my potential at 2 of the 3 meets I did.

- SQ 605

I read many of the other's goals. I think injuries have reduced me to a different perspective.

1.) sleep at least 6 hours per night.
2.) Perform ALL of the rehab needed for my shoulder.
3.) Perform prehab and stability exercises daily.
4.) Not eat junk food.

I think if I can execute on all those, the numbers will take care of themselves.
And I *will* do a full meet this year. :)

happy holidays,
jhind

Thanks, Roger. I'm looking at a year where I might stay in the 97's, move up to the 105's, or do a little of both.

In the 97's, my goals are:

SQ: Learn a little something from my fearless squat hero, Kendra Miller :) I would like to break the 250 barrier and do more than just one full meet for the year! Even just figuring this lift out for real would be an accomplishment.

BP: 175-180 lbs. Maximize my tricep strength and get dialed into the perfect shirt (getting closer and closer to it)

DL: 330+ lbs. Because deadlifts rock!

TOTAL: Break the 700 barrier

...and to stay injury-free, to keep learning, and for my faith to get even stronger yet through my experiences in this sport.

My goals are to bench 550 squat 700 and deadlift 650. I also hope to keep the fire I have for the sport that I have now. Even though I have only been competing for less than a year and have made great gains. I hope to be allot better than I have been this year on training and diet.
