I'd be interested to see what everyone's goals are for the new year.
Mine are Sq 450, bench 325, DL 450, Total > 1200.
Stay in the 181's.

My 2005 goals were:
Squat: 545 lb (best was 535 lb)
Bench: 340 lb (best was 330 lb)
Deadlift: 550 lb (best 515 lb, pr is 520 lb)
Total: 1420 lb (best was 1375 lb)

Didn't get any of those. Too aggresive on the goals and had a so-so year.

For 2006 my goals are:
Squat: 550 lb
Bench: 340 lb
Deadlift: 555 lb
Total: 1420 lb

My goal is to have someone on an internet forum say that either:

A. I must be on steroids
or
B. My squat was high

That's when you know you've made it!! LOL

Seriously, I want to total 1900, I don't care what the combination of lifts are.

Total 1900 or as close as I can get to it at 220
Bench 570 missed it right at the top the last time next time we will see if I can nail it.
DL 600+ one way or another.
Do at least 2 Strongman Meets this summer.

Come up with a really good nick name for Ken Ufford who is sneaking around with Joe calling me names and making fun of my DL. LOL this one may require the most work of all my goals.

My big 2005 goal was squat-500 which i exceeded with 529. Deads i just wanted to get some decent sumo pulls in a meet and i was able to surpase my old conventional PR of 425 with 451. BP also i had no idea or firm goal. I did learn how to use a shirt to some degree, but beyond that made little progress and topped out at 314.

2006 goals - probably at 198 (so far lifted 181)
SQ - 600
BP - 350
DL - 550

Here's a look back at my goals from 2005:

"At 165, I would like to first total over 1400 to qualify for APF Seniors. Then, I would like to compete at APF Seniors in June."

I did that, and placed 6th at Seniors.

"For my lifts, in a meet:

Squat: 300 kg or 661 lbs"

I actualy got 305 kg or 672 lbs, so I did well on this goal.

"Bench: 400 lbs"

I did not quite get to this one...it just was not in the cards this year. I'm actually still a ways away, I got 170 kg or 374 lbs, which was an improvement. I actually had a bad shoulder injury going into 2005 which impeded my progress.

"Deadlift: just some damn improvement!"

I definately did that here, I finally got over that 500 hump, going to 237.5 kg or 523 lbs.

"Total: Hit the Master total for 165 in the APF of 1450"

I surpassed this by quite a bit, going for 1570 at 165 at my meet in July.

As for 2006, my training has taken a back seat lately due to me finishing school and looking for a job. So my main goal is just to train consistently through finding a job and such. I also will head in a bit of a different direction than last year. I want to do a USAPL meet, and put up a good total in single ply gear.

I just want to try and stay healthy and meet my goals for '05 since I didn't get any of them. Plus, I will continue to annoy and torment you Slope head. I will be even tougher on you this year!

My main goal is the same as it was when I last modded my profile - total 1350+ in my next meet to get to IPF Class I level while lifting raw (belt only) in the 181 class.

Sub goals, still sticking to 181 class, are:

* squat 500 raw

* bench 300 raw

* deadlift 600 raw

Goals met for 114s / Goals for 123s

Posted By: Gary Zeolla
Date: Wednesday, 4 January 2006, at 8:16 a.m.

I powerlifted in college (1979-82), first at 114s then at 123s. I started powerlifting again in April 2003 at 114s. At that time, I had several goals. The first of these was to equal or better all of my lifts and total from when I competed at 114s in college. These were 352, 205, 410, 953. My best lifts to date are 410, 215, 410, 1030. So I easily met that goal.

The second goal was to break various IPA records. This I accomplished. I now hold 15 IPA records.

The third goal was to be ranked #1 in “Powerlifting USA's” Top 20 Masters chart. The final goal was to be ranked in the top five in the Top 100 chart. I met both of these goals when these charts were published in 2005.

So I am now thinking about moving up to 123s and setting new goals. My primary goal will be to better all of my lifts and total from college when I competed at 123s. These were 425, 240, 435, 1095.

A second goal will be to break various IPA records.

Placement in the Top 20 and Top 100 charts will be more difficult at 123s than it was 114s. So I’m shooting for in the top three in the masters chart and in the top ten in the Top 100 chart.
